I know that your posting is about 3 years old but I just came across it today and figured that I would right as there appears to be some important errors.
I question the date of the census that you have listed.Your posting says 1880.Is this a typo?I am a descendant of this couple and all the info that I have would indicate that, according to the ages specified for the listed individuals, THE CENSUS DATE SHOULD BE 1870.
I was surprised to find out that the family had resided in Maine. The information that I had had was that the family had left Quebec and had established itself in Greenfield, Massachusetts before emigrating, in 1880, to Ste-Agathe, Manitoba and finally, in 1886, to francophone community of St-Pierre-Jolys in southern Manitoba, Canada where most of the couples descendants eventually raised their families.I assume form your info that the family obviously made at least one other American stop in their search for a new home.
This is the info that I have.
THE FATHER'S NAME IS NEITHER TISMIN OR TIRMIN.It is Firmin, son of Alexis Prefontaine and Sophie Beaudry. He was born on Aug 28, 1826 in the Canadian province of Quebec. He married Mathilde Desautels on Feb 11, 1850 inthe parish of St-Jean-Baptiste in Rouville, QC.She was born July 6 1830 in the province of Quebec to Michel Desautels and Marie Morin.Firmin died on May 12, 1904 in St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba and his wife died in the same town in 1906.
You have 5 children listed for the couple.I have 7, including 3 daughters that don't appear in this census info, and one son, Edmond, that I did not have in my info and whom I believe probably therefore died as an infant.
