The Catalog for Sotheby's auction sale 5905 that took place on 14 Oct. 1989 pictures as item 102 a pair of oil portraits dated 1833 of Daniel A. Prentice (b. 5 Sept 1809, place unk.) & his wife Mary P. Prentice (b. 1809, place unk.) by the artist James Sullivan Lincoln who lived almost all of his life in Providence, R.I., where he died in 1888. It might be guessed that the Prentice couple he portrayed may have lived in R.I.
No other genealogical information is given about this couple in the catalog.
The pictures of the portraits are in black & white in the auction catalog, not colored as the original paintings probably were.
These fine portraits should be made known to the Prentice family. I am scanning them in case any members of the family might like copies freely by email. Someone in the Prentice family who knows of this couple ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by the family.

If they were portraits of a Pease couple in my line, I'd certainly want someone to do the same for me.
