Hi Folks....For the last decade or so,we seem to have stagnated on a matter which I would deem to be of considerable importance to many of us. Until a few years ago Richard Prescott of Hampton,NH was regaded as a stalwart pillar of Royal Genealogy.Backward to Driby Manor Lincolnshire, and thence to early Lancashire with aristocratic Prescotts,Standishes,Radcliffs,Bolds, and others the clear pathway led.Dozens of published genealogies, including multiple editions of Ancestral Roots of 50 New England Colonists all amplified and expanded the connections. Then lightening struck. Someone discovered,in England, the gravesite of the Prescott actually born at Driby Manor. There was a flurry of excitement at the time as the Prescott Lineage was hastily yanked from future editions.Intensive research was promised and tantelizing conjecture proliferated.Perhaps the one in Hampton was, indeed,an offshoot from the same family, and only slight revisions of long-cherished lines would be needed! All this has been followed by years and years of .......mostly,dead silence. Could someone......anyone.....please update us on any progress in determining a way around the broken connection. There are Mayflower connections as well. The Standishes are connected to Myles and I,just as an example, had to pull a two inch thick stack of sheets out of the family tree because of this discovery. The good news is that,at the same time that some folks are ferreting out flaws others are discovering new leads!Any new Prescott Pathways opening in the wilderness? Thanks.
