Hello, I am fairly new to the family tree searches. My family, from what I can tell, has had the surname spelling of Preszler, Pressler, and Bressler.I am curious about finding cousins, aunts, uncles, and anyone else that I can through this forum that is related to me.
This is what I know so far; My father Telfineus Preszler b.1933(SD)(married Angelika Riefer b. 1933 (Trier Germany)) is the son of Julius W. b.1905(SD) d. 1978.
Julius W.(married Meletta Fischer b. 1905 (SD)) is the son of Johann Preszler b. 1864 (Kassel Russia)
Johann Preszler (married Magdelena Stein b. 1866) is the son of George Adam Pressler b. 1826 (Kassel Russia)
George Adam Pressler (married Christina Mehlhaf b.1836 (Kassel Russia)) is the son of Henrich Casper Pressler b. 1800 (Wingerten Russia)
Henrich Casper Pressler (married Eva Elizabeth Schmidt b.1798) is the son of Michael Pressler/Bresler b. 1757
Michael Pressler/Bresler married Eva Christina ? born in 1774
Also my mother had said that during the imagration process the reason Pressler became Preszler is that in writing Pressler my ancesters did the german spelling by putting a squiggle like mark over the 's' to symbolize the double 's' in the name and the imagration officer mistook the squiggle for a 'z'.Can anyone verify that this might have happened?
I look forward to hearing from anyone that has information or comments on the research I have so far. Thanks, Michael Preszler
