I am interested in possible family connections in 17th-Century England between the Merry family and the Prettyman family. The Merry family seems to have roots in the west and northwest, and the Prettyman family in the eastand northeast. However, I found this item in the online database of the Cheshire Parish Registers, an ambitious and admirable project for that county in northwest England.
Gilbert Pretiman, baptized April 26, 1561, in St Johns Parish, Chester (city).
This is the only Prettyman record I can find in Cheshire, although I have not checked all the possible spellings.(If you look for names starting with "PRIT", you find a lot of Pritchards.)
If there was one Pretiman being baptized in Chester in 1561, it's likely that there were two of them living there at the time.Where did they come from?Where did they go?
