Hi.Over the holidays I read through an old family Bible, belonging to Samuel Priestley. While there was not a lot of family information (nothing about parents or siblings), there was a page with the following:
Found a page of births in a Bible belonging to Samuel Priestley (my great-g-g grandfather) inscribed "Dublin 1808 - residing at No. 30 Sower Bridge Street" along with the following:
1780 December 1 - Mary Ann Ireland - born at Drinmurry (? - most likely Dunmurry) near Belfast, Ireland 1781 November 23 - Samuel Priestley - born at Woodhouse near Leeds, England They were married in Belfast on November 23rd, 1808
Their children were:
Mary Ann Priestley - born DublinOct 5, 1809 Elizabeth - born Dublin August 26, 1810 John - born Belfast - May 29, 1812 Amelia - born Belfast - Jan 2, 1815 Letitia Maria - born Smyrna, Delware - March 16, 1817 Alexander Priestley - born Smyrna, Delaware - April 4, 1826
While there was nothing in this to indicate Samuel was a teacher, other sources I've located showed a Samuel Priestley of Smyrna, DE being paid for teaching services.
