Important Info regarding Alice Proffitt w/o Sylvester
Why and how the idea got started that Alice is a Pleasants, I do not know.A correction is in order so that researchers do not mislead future generations about their ancestry.
I believe once you see the dates and time frame that points out that there is no heir named Alice Pleasants and that both parents were deceased years before Sylvester Proffitt arrived in the US in 1716.By the time Jane Pleasant’s will was probated in 1709, there were 11 grandchildren.
These wills are in great length in the Edward Pleasants Valentine Papers in a two volume set.The Dallas Public Library, Genealogy Department has this set and I am sure that the Library of Virginia in Richmond also has the set as well as other large genealogical libraries in the US.
Both wills spell out exactly what each heir is to receive.
