I'm weeding old papers and wish to pass this bit of information along to other researchers. This has to be the Johann Nicholas Probst/Propst who landed in Philadelphia on Oct. 14, 1787 on the ship Dorothea.
It is a list of redemptioners and this page is dated Oct. 25, 1787 -- and it reads:
"Nicolaus Probst bound himself Servant to William vanPhul, by him Assigned to Sebastian Graff of the Borough of Lancaster farmer, to Serve him three years, to have Twelve Pounds Specie in Leiu of the freedom Suit Consideration (*) 21.1.6."
(*) This is a pound sign on the paper, but I have none on my keyboard.
