Hi Louise, Thanks for the reply. Thank you for confirming what I found going back to Richard and Demaris Prouty recently.(I wasn't sure if it was correct)
Now I'm really confused about something........ With regard to Henry Clay and Belinda (Rickert) Prouty's children, I have the images of the original census pages for their family for 1860 in Will County, Green Garden TWP, Illinois 1870 in Will County, Green Garden TWP, Illinois 1880 in Newton County, Jackson TWP, Indiana 1900 in Newton County, Jackson TWP, Indiana
1860 census lists children as:(on 7/17/1860) Luther F.6 years oldBorn Mass John J.1 year oldBorn Illinois1859
1870 census lists children as:(on 7/21/1870) Luther16 years oldBorn Mass James11 years oldBorn Illinois1859 Ernest9 years oldBorn Illinois
1880 census lists children as: (on 6/12?/1880) L.F.26 years oldBorn Mass J. T.(or L?)21 years oldBorn Illinois1859 Ernest17 years oldBorn Illinois
1900 census for Tilden John Prouty (on 6/7/1900) has Tilden J. Prouty41 years old born January 1859 in Illinois and family right below Henry Clay Prouty's family.
QUESTION 1: Is John J. (1860 census), James (1870 census), J.T. (1870 census) and Tilden J (1900 census) the same person born in 1859?
QUESTION 2: You list a James Wilson Prouty born 1859, the same year as the person(s) referred to in question 1, as a son of Henry and Belinda. But I've seen no reference to him in the census records. Who is he? Is he yet another reference to the same person in question 1?
Sorry to hit you with this, but I'm really confused, and new to researching this line. Thanks Much,GA Prouty :-)
