Fred M. Provence, son of Foster and Minnie, married Viola Melson who is part of my Martin line, and Fred's brother, Rufus, married Martha Martin. We have been trying for a long time to discover who Fred's parents were, and it's only recently that I found Foster and Minnie (finally found Foster in earlier census record after posting my first message here).
Have been searching for Foster's parents, but no luck.Found several young males in Red River Co., TX in 1900 who I think are probably Foster's siblings, but all are single, living alone or with relatives I can't identify, and all report conflicting birthplaces of parents.Could not find a certain match to any of these in the 1880 census.
I am the family historian in my group and the Martins and Melsons are a big part of my database. (I am a Martin descendant.) The descendants of Fred and Viola Provence, and Rufus and Martha Provence are anxious to know their heritage, so am hoping you will help.
Would really love to have at least a couple of generations back of the Provence line if you have it, but at least Foster's parents and siblings and any info about what apparently split up the family. (Did parents die early?) I know that Foster died sometime between 1918 and 1920 and wondered if it was the Influenza Epidemic of that time that killed him.Would like to know the marriages of Foster and Minnie's children, and what happened to Minnie after Foster's death.Would appreciate any info you can provide on Minnie's parents.I believe they are N. J. Barnett and Martha Unknown, and I have their kids from the 1900 census but don't know anything more about them.
Thanks so much for any additional info you can share.
