I just learned about some of my Pry (PRYE) ancestors yesterday. Before that, I had no idea that I had this family in my tree, so I have hardly anything.
The family that I am actually researching from Pike County, OHIO, is Zimmerman. However, my g-grandfather, Franklin E. Zimmerman, is a child of a Sarah Prye and William Zimmerman. Will is a Civil War Vet from Pike County. The spelling actually appears as Prye in the LDS file, however it also appears as PRY.Why? I don't know.
Anyway, she appears on the Pike County census in 1870 as head of the family. Her birth is abt 1838.She married William Henry Zimmerman on 13 February, 1853 in Pike County.Their children are:
Amanda Emma R. George W. Franklin E. Thomas E.
The parents of Sarah Pry are Daniel Prye, born in Virginia in 1799, and Eleanor Woodrough.
I know that I don't make any ties to the Pry that you are looking for, but I'm thinking that the years are right, where Sarah could have been the sister or cousin to who you are looking for.
The 1870 Pike County Census lists the following families in Seal Township:
Hope that this information helps. Let me know if you are finding a tie to Sarah Prye, as I'd like to get more information as well. But I'd suggest looking in Virginia for earlier relatives, but be advised that part of what is now Kentucky was Virginia at that time, just to complicate things.Good luck!
