Perpetuating errors made by other researchers and DNA testing.
"It may surprise some to learn that there are many errors in much of the posted research of the Puckett family. This is the result of most research striving to connect with John Puckett cir.1628. In fact I believe that one third of all Puckett linage that claims ancestry to John Puckett cir.1628 are likely in error."
This statement supports what I've been seeing; too many family trees which make relationships based upon pure speculation. For example, person A must be related to person B because person B is the only person in the county who shares the same last name as person A. Another, because a child of person B who has the same first name as the head of household of person A, these families must be related.
As a result, another unsuspecting researcher who stumbles upon the previous "work" of another adopts and perpetuates the errors in their tree.
DNA testing is perhaps the only way to remove the errors of researcher's guess work. I've not yet done it, but because of what I'm seeing in these works, I see no other realistic choice.
