MRS. CARRIE HEDGES APRIL 2, 1964
Mrs. Carried Hedges, 82, Fairbury, died at the Fairbury Hospital Wednesday, March25. She had been a patient two weeks. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 27, at the Cook Funeral Home, Fairbury, with the Rev. Gordon Reif officiating. Mrs. Fern Thompson was organist and the floral tributes were carried by Mrs. William Orth, Miss Dorothy Rudd, Mrs. Stanley Weeks and Mrs. Ray Householder. Casket bearers were Harold Albee, Robert Ficklin, Si Moser, William Orth, Stanley Weeks and John Householder, all of Fairbury. Burial was in the Chatsworth cemetery. She was born Dec. 9, 1881, at Chatsworth, a daughter of Samuel R. and Alice Pearson Puffer. She graduated from a nursing school in 1906. She was married to Dr. Walter V. Hedges March 16, 1909, in Frankfort. They lived in Frankfort and Joliet. In 1924 she was a nurse in the Chicago Memorial Hospital, Grant Hospital and the Chicago Municipal Tuberculosis Sanatorium. She is survived by a brother, Louis Puffer, Fairbury, with whom she made her home in recent years, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine in Joliet.
