Generally speaking most genealogical information up to 1915 comes from the "Puffer Genealogy" book written by Charles Nutt and published in Boston in 1915.His is the seminal work on Puffers in America. The book is very rare and it is out of print but you can buy re-prints, just search the internet.
That is where I began my Puffer research some 30 years ago.I have, arguably, the largest Puffer database in the world (excluding the LDS).The book is not perfect (whose research is?) but it is a great start.
Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org is where I get a lot of information also.A site called FindaGrave.com has many Puffer b/d/b information as well as who is related to whom.
Hope this info helps. If you'd care to contact me directly it's firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll be glad to access what I have.
