Hi, Solomon Pulver (b 1765) named one of his children Jacob Smith Pulver (b 1788). One of his children was Jacob Smith Pulver Jr. (b 1826) and he was called Smith Pulver in the 1860 and 1870 Census.I noticed that there are other Pulvers who put Smith into their name.
I can understand it if the wife's name was Smith or some immediate family member also had Smith in their name. But I can't figure out why Solomon started the tradition in "my line."Any ideas? Chris
