I have just recently found the obit of my gggrandmother, Elizabeth Ann (Eliza) Punches Cuthbert. The obit follows as printed in The Cleo Chieftain newspaper, Cleo, OK Feb 2, 1917.
Eliza A. Punches was born in Goram, Ontario Co. NY on August 27, 1830, and went to Michigan when she was seven years old.December 20, 1850, she was married to Elijah M. Cuthbert, and to this union was born ten children, five girls and five boys, five of whom are still living. The husband died on March 13, 1875, and she remained his widow since. At the age of eighteen she united with the Methodist church.Departed this life on January 23, 1917, aged 86 years, 4 months and 27 days.Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. C. Lakey with interment at Swuare Cedar cemetery.
I almost missed seeing this obit as I scanned the microfilm for Eliza Cuthbert.I was unable to obtain her death certificate and maybe the reason is the way it was written up in the paper.I will go back to Okla. City now with exact dates and a copy of her obit.
