Hi Andrew, Thanks for your quick reply and the additional information about the Wheatons. What fun it would be to tie Joann to the pilgrims who came on the Mayflower.
In regard to Lydia Ann Purdy (1824 -1905),I have a lot of information because she, like Martha, filed for a widow's pension. Unfortunately, the pension does not talk about either her parents or the parents of her late husband. Lydia's husband Isaac Davis was in the Civil War and died of pneumonia in the soldiers' hospital in Washington, DC in 1864 (where he is buried), leaving Lydia a widow with a gaggle of children.(She had at least 12 that I have counted, possibly more who were born and died between censuses.)
Harriet was actually married 3 times. Her first husband was William Simpson (1822 - abt. 1875).She had a son, Julius (1858-1929) with him. As far as I can tell, that was her only child. She subsequently married Leroy Purse and then Edgar McClure (1829 -1901.)Thanks for your information about her date of death.I didn't have that before.
I've only hit the highlights with Lydia, but would be happy to give you specifics of her children if you're interested.I even have a picture of her in her later years.
