I have been searching for information about my gggrandmother.Because I do not know her maiden name I have been searching out her married name, Purkey.
Her name is Mary, maiden/surname unknown. She married a Purkey (first name unknown) and lived near Lewisburg, West Virginia. The farm that she lived on with her husband was called Frog Hollow. Her estimated lifespan is approximately 1882-1957.Her children include Lillian (Lillie) Purkey (b. 1897) and Mabel Purkey (b. 1907).She also may have had 2 Purkey sons:David (Dave) and Charles (Charlie), birthdates unknown.
But then i realized that your Purkey family is older. It would be unlikely that *my* Mary who married a Purkey did so in 1824 and then had the above listed children. It would put her at 100 when having my ggrandmother Mabel (b. 1907)!So I canceled my message. Then I wondered what the odds are that this couple from your message had a son who married a Mary of West Virginia.Would it put them at the right age/time?
I've also emailed you directly in the hopes that you may have a lead for me.
