Hi John, just thought I would update you on some things I noticed about the Purnells. The Mason Co. marriage records show Thomas and Elizabeth getting married Jun 20 1849 as you said, however in the 1850 census Theodocia is listed as 6 years old. Also in that census just below Josaphine is Ann Shea Purnell 53 years old, Catherine Purnell 16 years old, birthplace listed as UP CANNADAN (strange), Thomas Purnell 14 years old, born in New York and John Purnell 12 years old, and born in New York. Now check this out in the 1850 census Thomas listed his age as 38 and married to Elizabeth, well in the 1860 census his age is listed as 40(ten years later yet oly two years difference in age) also he now seems to be married to a Mary aged 29 years old. Theodocia is now 16 years old. In the 1870 census he is now 52 years old, still married to Mary, James is 14 years old, Theodocia does not show up because I believe she is now married to my great grandfather. But there are three new names Lennin, Frank, and Elizabeth. I came across a brook about Mason County towns and the was a article about the Mitchell Mansion in Maylick Ky. It stated that the Purnell Brothers did the plastering so that fits. There was also mention of Judge Harry P. Purnell, futher research showed that Lennin married a woman by the name of Polly ? and they had a son named Harry P. Purnell. I believe this to be the Judge Purnell my dad always talked about. What are your thoughts or ideas?
