Thanks for the reply, Nancy.
Here is what I have on Samuel Morris Purnell/Pernell.
He was born about 1812-1813 in either Georgia or South Carolina.Census records indicate both.He was married to Sarah A. (last name unknown) who was born about 1813 in South Carolina.
They had the following children, according to census records:
William Wilson Purnell b abt 1832 AL
(married Elvira, daughters Alma Ann and Alice)
Mary A.b abt 1835 AL
Rachael b abt 1837 AL
Nancy b abt 1839 AL
Martha "Patsey" b abt 1842 AL
Marinda b abt 1843 AL
Finus E. b abt 1844 AL
Susannah b abt 1845 AL
Charlotte "Charlottey" A. b 4.21.1846 ALd 9.4.1873 MS
Sarah A. b abt 1850 AL
Marion S. b abt 1854 AL
Charlotte was my GG grandmother. She married George Emerson Robinson (son of John E. Robinson and Rachael Reed Emerson) before 1865, and they had three sons before her death in 1873.She is buried at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Cemetery, east of Tremont, in Itawamba County, MS.
Samuel Morris Purnell moved his family from Marion County AL to Hardin County TN before or during the Civil War.They were in Marion County in the 1860 census but in Hardin County in the 1870 census. My family's history indicates that Charlotte was "from" Tennessee, which always befuddled me because census records clearly showed the family always to be in Alabama, until I finally found them in 1870 in Tennessee.
