This is what eles I have on Samuel, son of Samuel & Lettice, born Castle Finn, Ireland, 9-24-1728. He came to America accompanied by 3 of his brothers in the early 1750's, arriving in Philadelphia. He was assisted in establishing himself in the mercantile business by his cousins and was very successful in this regard. In the early 1760's he joined his brother, Robert, in business in Baltimore. History records him as one of the foremost patroits in the colonies and from his bold and decided character, was elected Chairman of the Committee of Correspodence and later, Chairman Of the Committee of Safety. During the Revolution he was the writer of most of the correspondence emanating from that committee. He was a close confident of John Hancock, George Washington and others of the era. He married 1st Susannah Schley, who died in 1774. He married 2nd, 6-15-1776, Catherine Stewert. He was killed by Indians in 1788, while on a trip down the Ohio River to Kentucky. A Mr. Thomas Rideout, who was present on the trip, later wrote an account of the happenings. (Too long to print here-I can fax to you).1st child, John, died at 5 mths. and is buried in Church of theEpiphany, Philadelphia. Susanna, b.1772, married Robert Hughes. 6 children: Elizabeth Isabella, Henrietta Frances, married DR. F.N. Fenn, Rebecca Lux, Letitia, married DR. Harvey, H. Courtenay, died in infancy, another H. Courtenay, died 1862, never married. The H probably stands for Henry after the brother in law. Our info differs slightly but mostly the same. That is all I have on them, I do have more on siblings John, Isabella & John Henry.
