It has given my mother such a boost to hear from a family member of C.B. Putney.
The little program that we found his name on had to do with a boy scout program. My own grandfather, L. Ray Tyson, was a druggist in Sheridan, had been a scout himself and then became involved when my dad was a boy.It was some sort of banquet. My grandfather was the toastmaster. The banquet involved a pep song, then a "Welcome to Sons", given by a Mrs. Gwinn, a "Welcome to Mothers", given by my dad, named then "Junior" Tyson, a piano solo given by Eldon Wilson, Troop 4, French harp- Joe Postersky, Troop 8, Piano- "Charley" Putney, Troop 3, and then others. If you would like a copy of it (it is not dated)I'd be glad to make one for you.
Mom remembered this morning that she found your dad on the steps of her front porch reading a book.He had wandered down to their house from his to keep from practising the piano. My own grandfather, Louis Heiman ran the Heiman Commercial College in Sheridan and was also a bookkeeper like your granddad. My mom remembers your dad went to be the pianist for the New York Philharmonic, first she told me the Metropolitan opera. Her memory is failing her, she will be 94 in September. But anyway, she was glad to hear from the past. She and Dad used to help each other remember the people in Sheridan. What one wouldn't remember the other would.I'm no help at all to her, so this technology tickles her that I found someone in C.B.'s family. After WW II Mom and Dad moved from Sheridan to Casper, Wyoming where I grew up from age 4 to 18.
My address is firstname.lastname@example.org.I would love to have a private conversation with you.Mom wonders how did you get to Ireland, etc.Who was your mother? My brother, Louie married a girl from Beaver County, PA and my nieces remain there-a bout 30 miles down-river from Pittsburgh near Freedom. Best wishes to you and thanks for your response. It brought a little bit of home back to my mom.She and Dad retired out of Wyoming to Kentucky to be close to me in 1977.My husband transplanted me back to his native state from Kansas City where we both went to school.
