Thank you for responding.Yes, I talk with Bennie Pylate Hearn and she has done a lot of research.Perhaps in your research you have come across a John Pilot/Pylant of Sumter Co. and Lexington Co. SC. who was originally from NC.In the 1870 Lexington Co census he is listed as John Pylant, age 80 years, from Sumter Co., married to Tabitha age 78 years. In 1860 Lexington Co census he is listed as John Pilot age 71 years from Sumter Co. with wife Tabitha age 69 years. In the 1850 Lexington Co census he is listed John Pilot age 60 years from NC with wife Feneby age 56 years. His son Jackson Pilot age 22 years with wife Elizabeth Pilot age 19 years. There is a note with this entry that lists Jackson's name as Jackson Pylant. In all three of the census John Pilot/Pylant is listed as a shoemaker. In the 1820 Federal census of Sumter Co., SC there is a John Pylant listed that could be this same John Pilot/Pylant. Also in the 1820 census for Sumter Co, the Isham Pylant and the Ed Pylant families are listed. Do you have any information on John Pilot/Pylant above? In the PEYLONT, Issue #7, 1992 there is a John Pylant listed as the brother of William, Robert Jr, and Benjamin Pyland, and James and Nan Pylant.
