Ted Pylant left his gedcom at the museum genealogy library in Ardmore since his and his wife's families were from this rea. Ted is related to the Pylant families in early Lincoln Co., Tennessee; we share some distant Pylant/Tucker cousins. He has also has step-parent Wright line that might relate some other Wright lines from Arkansas.
There were two Pylant divorces in Carter Co.; one in the late 1920's and one in the early 1940's; they relate to Ted's families.
My current Pylant interest is the possible connection with other surnames in NW Arkansas. Guilford Pylant was an early minister to NW Arkansas; he and his wife had no surviving children. But was he related to other families in that area? probably? which ones? There is a Guilford Pillent Bourland born about 1854 in Arkansas; the Bourland families are related to NUMEROUS families. Could this Bourland line be related to the Pylant line or was this Bourland named after the honored clergyman for respect, not kinship? Since some of the Bourlands intermarried with two of the Five Tribes, could this Pylant line be related to tribal citizens?
Lots of possibilitiesm few answers, and fun to speculate, but documentation is difficult.
