James Kendrick Pyne senior was my great great grandfather. Was born, apparently in Bath, in 1810, and died in Bath in 1893. Was organist in Bath Abbey from 1839 to 1892. Was buried under the organ at Bath Abbey but later his remains transferred to Bath cemetery. A plaque with his name is placed under the organ at Bath Abbey. Married a pupil, Emily Maria Hobbs, born apparently in Bath around 1829 and died in Bath in 1909. Had the following children: Emily Louise (my great grandmothers); James Kendrick junior; George Minton; Ernest and Zöe. James Kendrick junior (Dr.) was organist in Manchester Cathedral. Said to be knighted by George V and granted the Legion d'Honeur of France. Married Agnes and had the following children: Ellesly (actor); Geoffrey (emigrated to Africa); Rupert (was a Mounted Police officer, in Canada?); Oliver (worked in a library in Manchester); John Sebastian (Bassy, an organist); Ethelreda; Elfreda; Phoebe and Stephanie. George Minton emigrated to Philadelphia, married an englishwoman, had two daughters: Dorothy and Delphine, one of them married in USA to a Mr. Crossdale. Ernest Pyne emigrated to Baltimore, was an actor. Married to Margaret and had five children. Zöe was a violinist and gave concerts in Europe. Had a Guarnerius. Married Oliver Hueffer. No children.
