Connie, Hi I am interested in any information on the QUA's from White Creek.I suspect that my ancestor was a Qua.
My suspected link to the QUA(W) family comes from a great-aunt's entry on my Great-Grandfather McMillin's death certificate. She had enter his grandparents names as Andrew McMillin and Margaret Quaw. From my research his grandparents were Andrew McMillan Jr and Margaret Adams in West Hebron, NY. But; Andrew's father was also Andrew McMillan Sr and wife Anna (Unknown).I found last year that Andrew Sr (died 1856) had an earlier wife as well, whom I strongly believe was a Jane (Unknown). Jane is buried next to him in W. Hebron NY and died much eariler in 1817 and Andrew's oldest daughter is named Jane. I strongly suspected my great-aunt got her generations mixed up.So I believe it is Jane Qua as my ancestor; or it could be a maternal parent to my Margaret Adams, possibly her mother Martha Adams was a QUA, as I found the following newspaper clipping linking my family to the QUA’s as well.Samuel was my Great-gr-gr-Uncle.
NOTICE:? Jan 28,1847
Left home on the 9th of Feb last, Samuel McMillan, a boy about 17 years of age, light hair and complexion, had on when he went away, a red plush cap, grey tweed frock coat with pockets in the side.Any information in regard to him, communicated to Andrew McMillan Jr., West Hebron, Washington Co. NY or Charles Qua, NO White Creek will be thankfully received and duly
rewarded. --------
I believe the Charles Qua of White Creek to somehow be related. Any information on the QUA familys there would very much help.
Thank you, Byron
