I have who I think is a Raabe, born in Berlin, Germany, 1829 or 1822.She is Eleanore Wilhelmina Raabe, buried as Robin Keltow. She was married to a man named Heinrich Frederick Kittner, or Keltow. They migrated to America about 1856; she died in Marvel, CO and he died in San Diego, CA.I am not sure at all if she was a Raabe, there is rumor they changed their names...I feel I have not much to go on, but do you have any names with similar birth dates? They had several children: for certain Hilda (born 1857), Bertha (1858) , and Minnie (1865), who was born in Scranton, PA.This is a real dead end for me.I have all the family from Minnie and her husband, Allison McKelvey, on to the present day.
The connection between Minnie Keltow (or Kittner) and Bertha Kittner, is that they both lived in Ouray, CO, each having children there, but they had different last maiden names. The story goes that the Kittners changed their name to Keltow.Minnie Keltow McKelvey and Robin Keltow are buried side by side with one of Minnie's sons.
A mystery, to be sure.My grandmother told me that this family was a part of Prussian royalty and lost their positions. An aunt tells the story that Grandpa (Adolf Heinrich) Keltow lived in a palace. They had sons (brothers of Minne and Bertha) in the Prussian army, one having much wealth.Grandpa had no skills so Grandma opened a bakery in the Bowery, NY.
