Hi Rhonda,
I'll see if I can find him on an earlier census.
Meanwhile, just so you have some of the fun, go to
http://www.usgenweb.net/http://www.usgenweb.net/
this is a huge, wonderful site, created by thousands of volunteers all over the country. It is organized by state and county. (Parish, in Louisiana.)
Click on the link for Louisiana, then find the link for "Parish Sites". Find Vermilion there at the bottom.
Hunt around for the archive page on the Vermilion site. It has a search engine. Search for Racca. You'll find eight pages. One of them has a cemetery transcription for Oday and his wife. He is spelled "Odey" on it, but the birth date matches.
I'm not being coy, I want to help you learn how to do this. If you don't find it, I'll lay it out for you link by link, but is is more fun if someone shows you what to look for when you cast and lets you catch the fish than if he just gives you a fifteen-pound bass; plus you learn something you can use the next day, when he is gone.
Given his death date you can try for an obituary in one of three ways, laid out for you on
http://www.tedpack.org/obit.htmlhttp://www.tedpack.org/obit.html
My site has some other tips for beginners, too.
You can also try for cemetery records, since you'll know where he is buried. The obituary guidelines are about the same as the cemetery records, you just write to or visit a different place.
