In phonetic English is the name pronounced RASCO or ROSCO or both? There are several families living in upper New York State and in Vermont who spell their name Rascoe or Roscoe and they trace their families back to Quebec where the church records have their family name recorded as Racicot, Rasicot, or Rocicot.
There are Roscoe and Rascoe families living in the Southern States of the United States that also spell thie surname Rascoe or Roscoe, two different pronunciations but often the same family lines. There family are traceble back to Northern England, Scotland, and Ireland. I am not sure if they connect with the French Racicots back in 15th century Europe or not.
There is also a family which has been in the New England States since the early 1600's named Rusco, Ruscoe, Rescoe, or Risque. These came from South England but was not native of that country. I believe they orginated from Belgium. Many of their descendant in the United States have changed their spelling to Roscoe and even Rascoe.
