Arriving on the ship Earl of Hillsborough [the greatest ship ever] in Charleston, SC in 1767 were Neal Rafferty [c.1720-17??] and his wife, Mary [1721-17??]with 2 children, Margaret, b.1756 and Malcolm, b.1758. Neal received a Royal land Grant of 250 Acres in what is now beautiful downtown Troy, SC, Greenwood County. Malcolm married my whole blood aunt Sarah Carson ca. 1780 and they had at least one son, Robert, b.ca. 1780. Wilkes Co., Ga. records [which could be Oglethorpe Co. now]: Josiah Patterson, J.P., & with John Patterson and John Carson make affidavits in Wilkes Co.,Ga., 17 apr 1806 that Robert Rafferty, son of Malcolm Rafferty, late of Wilkes Co., Ga., but now a resident of the State of Ky, ---- Robert Rafferty was in the State of SC, Abbeville County, from 25 Feb until 2 March 1806 and therefore he could not be guilty of the murder of Mr. Barclay in Wilkes Co., Ga., at that time for he was with us at our houses in Abbeville County at this same time. William McGough also makes a similar affidavit" All of these men were Robert's uncles. What became of Robert in Ky? Where is Malcolm buried in Ky? Where is Malcolm on 1810 Ky census? all info appreciated.
