My family records indicate a Samuel Railey (b. abt. 1803)of Kentucky being married to a Sarah Anne Moore, daughter of Benjamine Moore and Julette Mitchell of Maryland.
I know from census records that Sam Railey's parents came from Virginia. What I don't know is who was Samuel's parents. It has been family lore that he was in someway from the Raleigh line and I am also interested in the Randolph connection, but haven't been able to make a solid link.
Here is what I do know:
"Samuel Railey lived in Kentucky and owned a lot of slaves which he freed when he returned to teaching. Then the family came to Weston, Missouri on the Missouri River in 1854 on a steamboat. After some time the family then travelled overland to Stony Plain, Alberta where they established a homestead. The homeplace remained until Sam Railey died in 1865."
Noted Albertan Cornelia (Railey) Wood was descended from this line as well.
