The thing to remember on where a person was born at that time was the huge area that "Florida" and "Georgia" encompassed. Florida belonged to the Spanish and the English at varying times and encompassed parts of MS, AL, and LA, too. You need to look at a map of the place and the era. Georgia was huge at the time also.
I have this information:
There were three Cornelius Rain's, - Sr, Jr. and one shown as (3). The earliest was 1763. They came from Florida to Tombigbee River in Al. Is this the one you are looking for?
Cornelius Rain Sr was m. 22 Sep 1763 in St John's Parish, GA to Margaret Lucas. I have one son -Cornelius Rain Jr who had 6 children, 1 of them being Daniel Rain, m. 1st Pheriba H. Cato and 2nd Margaret C. Smith. If I could have your email I could send you the whole page. Please write me at: wgchastain at hotmail.com
I also have a file I can send you on notes I took on C. Rain.Email me at sbmoore at swbell.net
