Did you notice on the 1870 census Lafayette Co, MS, there is just one household between "E" and C.C. Rambo?I would assume C.C. is son of "E" (Elias). In household with C.C. is wife, young child and a W.T. Rambo 19, b MS.And, then next door to C.C. is the son-in-law W.E. Taylor.
By 1880 census Wm Taylor and his family are living "with" Elias and Jane, so assume they sold some land to Wm, and planned on staying out their "golden years" with Wm.
Going to the 1860 census Elias has son that matches for the C.C., but no William. Then in Holmes Co, MS 1860 is a Jesse Rambo 32, b TN and he has a son named William that could be that 19 year old on the 1870 census, and maybe the same one that bought land from Elias.I would guess he is a cousin, maybe Jesse and Elias are brothers???
When I first began researching, a lady was trying to help me and she had an Elias Rambo in Marshall Co, TN, son of Francis K. Rambo.I dug out her notes, but they are hand written and vague.I went to the Marshall Co, TN GenWeb site, someone indexed the 1850 census, but it only shows household of Thomas Rambo 31, b TN.The lady that helped me included part of the page of what she labled 1850 census Marshall Co, TN with her Francis K. Rambo and his household.Elias is popular with the Marshall Co, TN Rambos.I believe they came there from Washington Co, VA. There was an Elias in Washington Co, VA, too.
Have you checked Ron Beatty's site?He is updating the late Beverly Rambo's book.Ron's mother was a Rambo.
