The Lawrence County, KY, site on Revolutionary War soldiers does shown a Thaddeus Matthew Ramey. This site does not show its source of information. But the data replicates that given in Remy Family In America by B. W. Rhamy, which suggests that this is its source.I could not access the second site.
William Remy of Westmoreland Co, VA, did name a son Matthew in his 1759 will.
A Thaddeus Remy appears in the Shenandoah County, VA, records from 1779 to 1787.This Thaddeus fought in the Revolutionary War.
B. W. Rhamy says this Thaddeus was born in 1746, was given a land grant in 1836 in Lawrence Co, KY, and moved there. At the age of 90?!
Actually, this land grant was given to a Thaddeus Ramey who lived from 1815 to 1890.He married 1835 Zeany Caldwell, and appears in the 1840 through 1880 Lawrence County, KY, censuses.Thaddeus is a son of Mary Ramey.
I have never seen a primary document that says Thaddeus Matthew Ramey. The Thaddeus Matthew Ramey that is on page 90 in the Remy book appears to be an amalgam of three different individuals, a Matthew Remy, and two Thaddeus Remys. The Remy book contains 100s of errors, and the invention of Thaddeus Matthew Remy is another one of them.
