I'm also researching Ramsden in Almondbury and Kirkheaton, though unfortunately not the same family, as far as I can tell!
I'm basically looking for my ggg-grandfather, Allan Ramsden, who gave contradictory or incomplete information about the date and place of his birth on his various census sightings. However, West Yorkshire around 1836 seems the best bet.The best fit to this so far is an Allan Ramsden christened in Kirkheaton on Christmas day, 1835, son of a James Ramsden and his wife Hannah. He is one of 6 children (William, Ann, George, Grace, Ellen and Allan) christened to this couple in this parish. The family appear on the 1851 census in Almondbury, and states that all their children were born there (despite all those baptismal records from Kirkheaton...).I'm still trying to make head or tail of this lot, and whether 'their' Allan Ramsden is 'my' Allan Ramsden.
If any of this rings a bell with you, I'd be delighted to hear from you!
