You have two streams of Rands which converge in Lodi and Jefferson, TX.One group is White and descended from John Rand and Mary Ann Parker, in North Carolina and onto Alabama , then into Texas. There is information I have included which travels back before that. The other Rands are African American, born of John and Mary's son, William Harrison "Hal" Rand."Hal" Rand had a son, Richard "Dick" Rand, born in MS --Chickasaw County -- with a mulatto woman, Ann ___."Hal" brought both his wife, Ann Mullens Rand and his "other" wife, Ann (Rand)[mulatto] and his son, Dick, to Jefferson and Lodi, Texas, where they all lived next to one another.Richard "Dick" Rand was my great grandfather as he had a son, Ezekiel Rand in Lodi. In fact, we as a family still have family land in Lodi, Jefferson, Hawkins and the environs. Here are some websites, that will definitely help you make the connections between the two streams.
In 1999, Karim Rand, an African-American young woman, posted an inquiry about the NC and AL Rands.I answered her with some information. http://genforum.genealogy.com/rand/messages/86.htmlhttp://genforum.genealogy.com/rand/messages/86.html She also gathered a lot from others in 1999 from a post.Just follow the thread.
In 1980, I approached my cousin William, a pilot who now lives in Oakland and my 2nd cousin, Earl Wadsworth Rand, former president of Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, TX about a family reunion.Since then we have had incredible reunions. To date we haven't had a "mixed" two-stream, reunion, but I can tell it's coming.
