The Jacob Rape I referred to was born in the 1700s much too early to be your John J. Raipe.Somehow I failed to respond to your last post and not sure you are even reading here anymore. However, I just now read or possibly re-read your last post and notice the name Bridgit, which reminds me that I have seen this name before in some PA family which was from Ireland, where the sur-name was spelled either RAPE or REAP. Without doing a new search I can't give you more details at this time, however, I can tell you that from some book on Irish sur-names I did learn that the Irish name of REAP found in County Mayo was pronounced and therefore sometimes spelled as RAPE. Both versions of the name became known in PA. Seems to me that your RAIPE name could be an additional or newer spelling version of the same name.
