I am looking for information about Nels Rasmussen. He was from Copenhagen, Denmark, sometime in the mid 1800s. He was married to a woman (I don't know her name) and had at least two children, a girl and a boy, who were twins. The twins were born on February 27, 1870. Nels daughter died at birth (it is also possible that his wife died in childbirth). The boy was named Frank Rasmussen. Then Nels was remarried to Christine Petersen. Frank did not like his step-mother so at the age of 10, in 1880, he left for America. He settled in St. Paul, MN and played the clarinet on a party boat.
I am not sure what year Nels Rasmussen died but I do know that he was killed in Copenhagen on Christmas Eve. He was killed by a runaway horse and wagon in front of his son, Frank, who apparently was in Copenhagen visiting his father.
Frank Rasmussen eventually lived in Decatur, MI and married Lydia Myrtle Bonham (who was from Texas) and had a daughter, Jenny Rasmussen. She is their only child.
Jenny Rasmussen (now Jenny Koopsen) is my grandmother. Therefore, Frank Rasmussen is my great grandfather and Nels Rasmussen is my great great grandfather.
Any information about any of these people would be great. I am hoping to travel to Copenhagen this summer and search for any possible relatives I might have there.
