Hello to all the people with the name Ravina... I have some news for you. There are Ravina families in both Italy and Spain.
There is also a first name from India ("Ravina") which is translated as "Rays of the Sun".
There was also a Ravina involved in writing the Talmud, so there must be some Jewish branch of this family. [try searching the internet for Ravina and Talmud and you will see the story]
As for me, my grandfather came to the United States in the early 1900's. He had relatives who went to London, and some other relatives who went to Argentina. They all came from the area near Torino in Northern Italy. My grandfather came from a small town called Fubine in the Alessandria region. So many people came to New York City from this little town that they formed the "Fubinese Society", a small club in New York composed of people from Fubine.
You can go to www.ellisisland.org to find a record of the Ravina family that came into the US through New York City. Just go here: http://www.ellisisland.org/default.asphttp://www.ellisisland.org/default.asp Then put in the last name of Ravina, and see what you find, a goldmine of information.
Best regards to all the Ravina family out there! Paul Ravina from Massachusetts, USA
