I found these records in the circuit court files in Switzerland Co, Indiana. This confirms that David Rayle b. abt 1799 KY was the son of John W. Rayle (and Mary Miller). David married Sarah Burton Truitt 29 Sep 1819 in Switzerland Co. Sarah's parents were Riley Truitt, Jr. and Elizabeth Lambertson (Sarah's middle name is her grandmother Truitt's maiden name). David died about 1823, and Sarah died before 28 Jul 1846. No children of David and Sarah were listed in the documents below nor in the 1846 land suit against the heirs of John W. Rayle.
This <> witnesseth that Sarah Rayl, the daughter of Riley Truitt was once married David Rayl the son of John Rayl, and that this said David Rayl some years since died and left the said Sarah a widow, and that lately said widow died at the house of the said Rily her father & when she died she was in possession of a certain Black Mare & that since her death the said John Rayl claimed that said mare as his property & took possession of her by a writ of Replevin against the said Riley. Now this is to certify that said Rily has no claim on said mare that said John Rayl is taken her & that John has no claim or demand further on any of the property or estates of the Sarah Rayl or the said David Rayl. And that the said Writ of Replevin is to be dismissed by said Rayl at the the costs of said Rayl. Written the hand & seal of the parties, the 21 Sept 1826. Riley Truitt John Rayl
