Carol--
The only part of this lineage that I have my doubts about is the John Rea/Hannah Hasty connection.I know that this has appeared in a number of places, sometimes with the caveat that there is no proof.Lacking further evidence, I've come to believe that John Rea and Hannah Hasty have no connection to James Rea Sr of Henry Co, VA.I think the most likely source of this idea is the account given in Joseph Rhea's book "Ray-Rhea: a family book of history and genealogy for Rhea and related families" (1969).Several people have evidently surmised that the James Rea of Henry Co, VA was the same James Ray listed as a son of John Ray & Hannah Hasty.
The author, Joseph C Rhea Jr et al, direct descendants of John Ray & Hannah Hasty, have had Y-DNA testing and the data show that two lineages are not related.
At one time I thought that I might be descended from Gatewood Dunn Rea and have collected quite a bit of info about his family. However, I still have a number of specific questions about Gatewood, especially about his years in TN and Franklin Co, IL.I am also very interested in acquiring a scan/photocopy of Gatewood's family bible record. If anyone can help with these please get it touch at my posted email address.
