I have the original Way-Rea Bible, a 1613 King James. It was likely owned by Francis Way.The first family entry is Francis Way b.1669 and Elizabeth Arbell b. 1672. Joshua Way, son of Francis and Elizabeth Way, born Aug. 25, 1711, m. Elizabeth Lewis, their fourth child being Phebe, born Feb. 17, 1739.Phebe married Eleazer Hubbell, Sept. 1754 and had two children, Sarah and Elizabeth. After the death of Eleazer Hubbell, Phebe Way Hubbell married Robert Rea, date of birth not given. They were married Jan. 9, 1769.Their third child, Joshua b. April 8, 1774 married Sarah Meredith b. April 17, 1779.17 children were born to this union, the 8th being George, my direct ancestor.
This Bible was handed down to George by his father Joshua in the 1840's when he migrated to Mississippi from Penn. George had it rebound in leather in 1846 and later presented to my gggrandfather Robert Rea.The last entry is for George W. Rea, Robert's brother, 'Killed in the service of his Country',(CSA) 1865 in Mobile, Ala.
The genealogy is beautifully written, and including even the time of day for many of the births. I would like to learn more about the original Robert Rea, second husband to Phebe Way.
