I recently purchased the subject undated studio portrait of a middle-aged man taken by Williams, Centralia, WA.This photographer was active in Centralia around 1885.The back of the mount is identified:

I found this individual listed in the 1860 Census data for Cache Creek Township, Yolo Co., CA; the 1880 Census data for Lewis Co., WA; the 1900 Census data for Skookumchuck Precinct, Lewis Co., WA; the 1910 Census data for Centralia (resided at 405 South Washington Avenue), Lewis Co., WA; the 1920 Census data for Centralia (resided at 412 North Diamond Street), Lewis Co., WA; and the 1930 Census data for Northside Precinct, Mason Co., WA.He is included in four Public Member Trees posted on ancestry.com.See also "The James C. James Crawford Ready was born 21 Apr 1837 in MO, and died 11 Feb 1932 in Shelton, Mason Co., WA.On 1 Apr 1859, he and his three sisters left Missouri, joining a wagon train bound for California (also traveling with this group was his future wife, Sarah Martin, born about 1841 in IL, died 1 Feb 1896 in WA).They arrived in Sacramento on 12 Oct 1857.James married Sarah in Jun 1858 and they took up a piece of land 20 miles west of Marysville.On 4 May 1864 they left California for Lebanon, Oregon, and later moved to Washington.The couple had seven children:

In 1898, James married Emma (maiden name unknown), born Mar 1843 in New Brunswick, Canada (immigrated 1870).
James was variously employed as a farmer, ferry operator, sash factory watchman, and capitalist.
The sister of James who is named on the back of the mount was his neighbor when the two of them resided in Cache Creek Township at the time of the 1 Aug 1860 enumeration.Eleanor Ready, born about 1835 in MO, married a farmer named H. Parman, born about 1825 in IL, and the couple had five children by this date.
