Milton Arthur Reagle b-7-4-1887 Stone Church, PA d-2-14-1958 Ainswarth, NE Milton was from Pennsylvania Dutch stock that migrated to Onawa, Iowa. A flood there saw the family escape with the grandmother in a boat while the others swam for saftey. They came on to Montrose in McCook County of South Dakota only to have an epidemic of hog cholera bringing them to Valentine in 1906 by wagon. They settled on Minnechaduza Creek near the old light plant. Mary Sedlacek Reagle moved from Kilgore, NE to Valentine in 1911 and was employed in the Charles Cornell home as a maid. Milton Reagle, better known as "Millie" drove the ice wagon for Clarkson's delivering ice to homes in Valentine. Millie met Mary Sedlacek on the fourth of July, 1911 and on August 3, 1912 they were married by Rev.Wells in the Elof Olson home in Valentine, now the Walter Kaiser home. Milton and Mary moved into the house Milton had bought in 1909 for his mother and the children to live in, as his father had disappeared with no knowledge of his whereabouts. Malinda, Millie's mother, had passed away June 25, 1912 leaving some of the children quite young. Milton and Mary, just having been married, decided they would take the two young girls, Cora 14 and Marjorie 10, and care for them and send them to school until they were older. Floyd, Ray, and Amanda found jobs. After six years of driving the ice wagon, Millie decided it was time for a change so he bought a team of horses and running gear wagon and began hauling commodities to Rosebud, Mission and St. Francis, South Dakota, then later started freighting lumber up there to build homes for the Indians. The wagonruts across country still visible. Mary and Milton have three sons and one daughter. March first 1916, the family moved 6 miles N.W. of Valentine on the Brosuis place, where they farmed 14 years. Besides the four children, Milton and Mary took Lucille into their home as Lucill's mother, Margaret Sauerwein, passed away November 29, 1928 leaving Lucille at the age of two and her sister, June, just a baby. June was raised by Floyd and Ethylene Reagle.
