Hi Melissa,
I am a direct descendant of Hezekiah and his wife , "unknown Mason". He is my gggg grandfather. The lineage from him to me is as such: Hezekiah Reames m. ? Mason - H. Mason Reames m. Mary Raglin Spann - Frederick Spann Reames m. Eliza Jane Durant - John Frederick Reames m. Mary "Dora" Davis - Rembert Carlisle Reames m. Essie Galloway - John Dalton Reames, Sr. m. Ann Bailey - Me. I have lots of info. from this branch in Sumter and Bishopville, SC and would be glad to share it. FYI, the original house that he built in 1802 on land that he bought from Gen. Thomas Sumter in 1798 still stands. It, along with the land, was in the Reames family up until 1997 when it was sold to another Sumter family.
The Lemuel Reames you wrote about is my gg grandfather's, Frederick Spann Reames, brother; Lemuel Ira Reames. He founded a school, that still exists today in Sumter as Lemira elementary school. On another side note, my g grandfather was instrumental in the founding of Bishopville High School. As well as being large landholders and farmers, this branch has been heavily involved with academic endeavors. Don't hesitate to ask for info.
Sincerely,
Dalton Reames
