Hi Mary - The information concerning the recovery of the body of George Reasons from the Middle Fork Forked Deer River in Gibson County, TN in August 1842 is found in an affidavit in the War of 1812 service record of George Reasons. Under an Act of March 3, 1855 his widow Dicey applied for some bounty land which was made available for veterans and their widows. The file number for this application is 267.792. The affidavit of interest is by James Porter (my great great grandfather) and Moses Cox. They declare that they were present when the body of George Reasons was recovered from the river, and remained in the company of those present until a Jury of Inquest declared George Reasons dead by drowning. There should be some record of the report of this Jury of Inquest in the Gibson County, TN records for 1842. I just haven't had a chance to look for it. George Reasons is my great great great grandfather. Don
