Recklings of Columbia, South Carolina
I'm looking for any info on the Recklings. So far, i only have William A. Reckling, born on 1848 in Vienna, Austria, and died in December 1913 in Columbia, South Carolina. and buried at Elmwood Cemetary. he owned a photography studio. he had emigrated to the U.S. with his3 sisters: Bertha, Lula C. (b. 1860 in Vienna, Austria and died in Columbia, S.C. dont have her death date yet- sorry), and Leopaltin (spelling??) Hermine (b. 1859, and died in Columbia, S.C.) i descend from Leopaltin's line. in the 1910 census records of Richland county, Columbia, S.C., Leopaltin was listed as "Lenie", which i figure was her nickname.)
Leopaltin married James McDougall (b. 1858 in S.C. and died in Columbia, SC. they had 3 daughters: Bertha Margaret (April 13, 1895- Sept. 3, 1916, listed as a Hardware Store Stenographer in the census records), Azalea (b. 1889, Shoestore Bookkeeper), and Hildgard (b. 1892, Studio Photographer, possibly at her uncle William's studio). Hildegard had a husband whose first name was Frank.(i am not able to get his last name).
Bertha Margaret McDougall married Frederick Seegers Habinecht (b. Oct. 31, 1893, co-owner of Habinecht-McDougall & Co.) on Feb. 5, 1915 at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Columbia, SC. Bertha died of child-bed fever 10 days after daughter, Margaret Hermine (Aug. 24, 1916- October 23, 1999)'s birth.
William A. Reckling, married Ella Gertrude Radcliffe. they had 4 children: Thomas Radcliffe Reckling (Apr. 1, 1878- Sept. 7, 1927, photographer), J.D. (Reckling) McCarley, L.C., and Walter Taylor.
Any info you might have on any of these names, especially the birth/death date info, as well as the identity of Leopalin's sister (either Lula C., or Bertha) who married a McDougall, who could be James McDougall's brother or cousin.
it would be greatly appreciated. thanx.
