I have discovered some new information about the movements of Rachel Redd after the death of her second husband, Everly.Ancestry.com has the following marriage record from Cass Co., IN court records: "Rachel Everly m. Lismand Basye, 14 Sep 1837".The 1830 Tippecanoe Co IN census, Tipp. Twp. shows Lismund Basye, age 40-49 with 9 children and no wife. Then 1840 Tipp. Co, IN census, Tipp. Twp. has Lismund Basye, age 50-59 with a wife age 50-59 (the right age to be Rachel) and 5 children. Tipp. Co is right next to Cass Co. and other Reddsare living in Cass Co.(children of Rachel's brother Joseph who came from Wayne Co. OH around 1830).It all fits together.Rachel probably came to Cass Co. to live with a nephew or with Joseph's widow. That would explain why her wedding was in Cass Co. rather than Tippecanoe. Lismund Basye and Rachel have disappeared from the area by 1850-- in fact, I don't find them in any census anywhere in 1850.Maybe both are dead? All in all, I am totally convinced that Rachel's third marriage to Basye is real and that she came to Tipp. Co IN.
