Hi Jane,Please believe me that I would not want posted how many times I have believed myself to be right and then proven wrong.I ask that you check out my facts and then give me an opinion.***#1-In the 1820 Greene Co GA census is 1 James Reddin with wife and 2 sons under 5.That fits the trees of both James Reddin persons but in the census James Reddin lives 2 doors from James Bledsoe who was the brother of the deceased husband(Aaron)of Elizabeth Stocks. The children of Aaron Bledsoe were 3 boys,Thomas W b 1809, John Stokes b 1811,and Walker Brockman b 1813 and after their father died in 1815, Elizabeth marries James Reddin in 1816.Whether it was either James Reddin, I would have expected to find more than 2 young boys in the 1820 census and one must conclude that the Bledsoe children were not living with James Reddin at the time of the 1820 census.***#2 because James who married Polly and is in the 1840 Troup Co GA census as James Reddin and the 1860 Troup as James Rodin (looks like Reddin to me) with Mary and G W and below James is another son C C Reddin and family, and also is in the 1870 Troup Co census as James Redding with wife Mary,I am quite certain that James and Polly were not in Habersham Co GA.*** #3 Before I was sure about Habersham Co I had found the 1850 Union Co census (Union Co is close to Habersham Co)which has James Redden b 1800, no wife, but there are 7 children still at home. Also in Union Co in 1850 are George Redden and family living next door to Sina Ann (Redden) Johnson and her family. These are children of this James Redden.Several trees have the oldest child as Carrol b 1816 and I have no record for him but I do believe the trees are correct.Knowing the ages and gender of these children one could say they fit quite well the 1830 and 1840 Habersham census for James Reddin and we know his wife was not Polly Nicholson. ***#4 I want to focus on 2 children from the 1850 Union Co GA census--Martin b 1828 and Clarissa J b 1832.In 1860 Martin is married and in Cherokee Co AL.In the 1870 Cherokee census he is listed as Marten Redding. In the 1880 Cherokee census he is listed as Martin Readen.About 1855 Clarissa marries Warren Robert Davis Crane and among several sons they have a daughter Sina Ann Crane named after her aunt.Warren dies of pneumonia while a prisoner of war in 1865 and Clarissa is in the 1870 Cherokee Co AL census as Clarissa Crain. *** I need to tie these children to Elizabeth Stocks:#5 John Stokes Bledsoe has moved his family to Smith Co TX bt 1860. You will find his dau marries Wm Bunkley and settles in Ellis Co TX. Eventually John also is in Ellis Co and after daughter Serena and 2nd husband (Scarborough)have lived in Scurry Co TX, Serena moves to Ellis Co where she is buried. #5Martin's children and grandchildren move to Ellis Co and Scurry Co TX [Look for Ocie Rinehart, James Neely Rinehart, Ida Lemmer (Rinehart) Morrowas well as Cecil Redden, Luther Redden, and Bob Redden] and this is my support that Elizabeth Stocks was the wife of James Reddin in Habersham Co and I believe she died after the birth of the youngest child Samuel b 1839.In 1840 we find James has a housefull of kids and in 1840 he marries Mary Posey in Habersham Co in July. The census was taken in Jun so I believe they were already living together. Since Mary is not in the 1850 Union Co GA census it is probable that she has died.
As I said please check me out and look for flaws.
