I too am researching a Redmann family from the Lindenwerder/Sokolitz/Liepe, Posen, Germany area.I was especially interested in the postings from Lizbeth and Peter.I emailed you both direct, but will post here as well.My great-great grandfather was Gottfried Redmann. We know from Lindenwerder church records that at least 10 of his 13 children were born and christened in this area and that his second marriage to Amalie Kroll also took place there. We found death records for his first wife, Wilhelmine Krueger, and two of his oldest daughters there as well. What we cannot find is who Gottfried's parents were, where he was born, and who any of his siblings were.An August Redmann was a sponsor for one of Gottfried's sons, Herman, and Amelia was a sponsor for one of a Ludwig Redmann's children. Those are the only Redmann name connections we have made, but still don't know who these people are.Three of Gottfried's children from his first marriage came to America in 1867 and 1871.Gottfried came with his second wife and four children in 1882.They went to Wisconsin first and then to Nebraska in the same year. Gottfried's living childrens' names were William, Ottilie, Herman, Auguste, Otto, Max, and Bertha, if that helps at all. Anyone out there know anything of these Redmanns? We have been stuck here for a LONG time now!!Would love to hear from any of you.
